The agony and the ecstasy.

Rinse and repeat.

Rinse and repeat.

A short ride today but with three really nasty climbs. Followed of course by three major adrenaline rushes.

Each climb was in the 200m range over about 2Ks horizontally. Owwwww. OTOH, plenty of opportunities to take photos.

The descents similar, yay! Except for the second one where I had to keep braking to keep safely behind the mobile home that was in my way. Boo!

After arriving in the Fox Glacier township fairly early we rode about 10Ks out of town to a picnic spot with neat views of the mountain range and glacier. Justin laid on the picnic lunch so there I was sitting in a deckchair, in the sun, enjoying those views and a fairly healthy sandwich or two. (We won't say anything about the brie and dip, OK?). Life just doesn't get much better than that.

Rode back to the township, checked in, did laundry, then drove out to Lake Matheson for a walk around it. The view of a mountain range reflected in a lake is almost a cliche (it shows up as the icon for the landscape setting on my camera), and today I found out why. What a beautiful view. :)

Back to town for dinner and then a rest day tomorrow.

I was so close to hitting a new max speed for the tour. I blame the mobile home on the second descent because my speedo started acting up on the third. Oh, finding myself deliberately brake steering through some of the curves was highly amusing given how hard trike designers try to engineer brake steer out of the designs. :)
