An interesting morning, a pleasant ride, and an end to the beginning.

Whales and Wrapping Up... )
Rest day tomorrow then I think it is on to the Milford Experience. Yay!
arcadiagt5: (Open Road!)

A glorious ride on a quiet road followed by some hard work on gravel.

A fun day. Apart from some of the gravel... )

Whale watching tomorrow! Woot.

A short, fast, glorious ride followed by retail therapy. What's not to like?

Not much. I certainly enjoyed myself. )
Oh and I've reached the conclusion that NZ hills are bulls that eat my red flags. I lost one last time I was here, I lost a second one on the Lewis Pass a couple of days ago, and a third today.

A great morning, a phobia moment, and an afternoon grind. Oh and gorgeous scenery.

Yes, that was a pun. )

And no, I'm not sorry for it. :)

The price of overextending yesterday was a light but enjoyable day today.

The difference between recreational and serious cycling... )

Looking forward to a longer ride tomorrow.

arcadiagt5: (Open Road!)

A couple of good rides today including one really fun descent. Much good scenery, photos later.

All the details... )

*Undulating in tour guide speak translates to painfully hilly for mere mortals like your humble correspondent. :)

...how JetStar makes a profit. Charging separately for headphones and the movie device is a bit rich though (mind you I brought my own so I'm good)...

In other news I didn't do much yesterday beyond walking around buying stuff like a card reader so I can transfer photos to the laptop. It was a long day the day before so I didn't really feel up to much more than that.

Right now? It isn't raining and I'm hoping that it will rain again enough to clear off tomorrow.

Or, three very different rides and a rainbow.

Overall a good day though... )

Tomorrow we're off to Greymouth which will again be a mix of driving and riding since a) Lewis Pass is in there somewhere b) It took us at least two days to do this distance last time on the "serious cycling" tour and c) This is a "recreational cycling" tour. After that I'll be heading north into new territory. :)

Loot!

Replacement ipod (charging now), new sony noise cancelling headphones. Couldn't get a card reader - will look for that in NZ

I now have tags for New Zealand 2009 and New Zealand 2007.

I've set the journal up for pingbacks. Just to cover for the vastly unlikely scenario where I say something worth linking to. :)

And just to round things off I've got semagic up and running on the new laptop.

Feeling like a happy yo-yo... )

As to the title of the post, well I've already discovered that the cable connecting camera to laptop has gone astray. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up a replacement or a card reader from the duty free shops once I check in and get past customs.

In the meantime if you want to have fun speculating wildly about all the other things I might have forgotten go right ahead. :)
